K.M.P. Accessories @ the Street Rod Nationals
August 11, 2009K.M.P. Accessories’ take on the “Big Three”
July 22, 2009
Those of you who know us here, know that we at K.M.P. Accessories are a Mustang Driven, Ford Performance parts and accessories online retailer. We have followed Ford Motor Company since our years as a teenager and will continue to express our love for the brand, but please don’t think that we hate everybody else.
We do very much appreciate the wonderful lines of a GM, or the level of class that you feel from driving a Chrysler, but we are so dang frustrated as many of you are right now. I tend to say that we need to think outside of the box and not let the news focus our attention on one particular thing. Look at it this way, one of the topics of the news here lately is the fall of Chrysler, and their selling out to European auto companies, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, that is just business. Granted some of the business choices may not have been the wisest, but they were just that, choices! Now GM is following in Chrysler’s foot steps, which is really sad! Who would have ever thought that a large company that can define American History, or create a history of its own, would file bankruptcy…
Now I am not saying this to ruffle any feathers. Again, though Ford is our preference, we still do love many of GM’s and Chrysler’s, and whole heartedly support the AMERICAN AUTO INDUSTRY. I mean, who can’t sit down having a conversation with friends or family about cars, or a particular car in general, without thinking about a ’69 Charger “the General Lee”, or think of a Pontiac Trans Am (now the New Shelby GT500) from Knightrider, or heck, even talking about the Andy Griffith show and seeing all of those old cars…. Like the 1960 Ford Galaxie that Andy used to drive as a Police Cruiser.
My point is this, we are constantly hearing about the downfall and hardships of others which my heart goes out to. The question is, has anyone stopped and stepped back, and taken a look in the mirror? I have never heard on the news that a massive amount of people, regular ole, Mr. and Mrs. Blue Collar Worker, working hard for your money kind of people, that have staged a rebellion demanding higher wages. It is funny how in today’s society that the cost of living seems to go up every year, but our salaries as American’s does not. When I started this business, and believe me, we are a still a small business that started out of my home garage. I was still working in sales at a local Ford dealership. We just started K.M.P. as an extra source of income, and have been growing ever since.
Now I am sure that by reading this some of you may have mixed feelings, or could misunderstand the meaning of this letter. Again I do not intend to upset anyone, I am just asking, if in the time of high school economics, when it was said you have to spend money to make money, then why are we not getting any more money in our paychecks and why is our federal minimum wage still only $6.55? maybe it is not the fault of the Auto Industry. If we could afford to buy cars, wouldn’t we?
